During the epidemic, ECMO were frequently used for first aid, and its effectiveness and acceptability were constantly improved, which has won the national positive recognition and widespread public attention and is beneficial to the development of the localization of the equipment.
On February 4, 2020, the National Health Commission and the National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine further emphasized in the Guidelines on the Novel Coronavirus-infected Pneumonia Diagnosis and Treatment (Trial Version 5) that for patients with Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS), prone ventilation should be considered, and even extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO).
The research and development of high-end medical devices is not accomplished overnight, however, mastering core technologies is the only way that a powerful industrial country must pass. “Made in China 2025” put forward by our country aims at solving this problem. This epidemic is not only a wake-up call for our health, but also a wake-up call for China's manufacturing industry. Only by increasing R &D investment in cutting-edge manufacturing and realizing localization as soon as possible, can we not be subject to other countries' technical barriers.
